We started off in January looking at our new topic of ‘The Cold’. The children found out about the cold places of the world, learning about how they are the same and different. We looked at how people, plants and animals adapt to living in such extremes of cold and how they look and behave differently from others around the world. The children were fascinated to learn about Captain Robert Scott and Roald Admundsen, the Polar explorers, who raced to the South Pole. We moved onto thinking about what winter is like in the UK, learning about how plants and animals change to survive through our coldest season.
For the first time, the children took home a project about ‘The Cold’. We were so impressed with all of the wonderful work that was created at home with their helpers that is has been proudly displayed in our entrance hall. Well done all of you, we are very proud of all of your efforts!
Here are some of our projects:
After the Spring half term holiday, we started our topic of ‘Real Life Superheroes’. We started off by learning about cartoon superheroes, using the film ‘The Incredibles’ to help us. We quickly moved onto looking at people who help us. We were very lucky to have Gill the G.P. (who is also one of our Governors) come to talk to us and work with us to help us to make our patients better. Thank you Gill, we really enjoyed working and playing with you.
We were also lucky enough to have PC Tony and PCSO Vicky visit us in their police car! We all had a great time learning about their jobs and looking at their uniform and the equipment that they use.
We are also hoping to have a visit from Becky the firefighter (who was sadly called to fire on the day that she was due to visit) and Phil the farmer with his woolly friends!
