Autumn 2 2017
Welcome back after the half term break. Our topic this half term is 'Teddy Bears and Toys'. Please follow the link to our half term topic plan:
We have started off our learning thinking about real bears. We have learnt that there are eight types of bears in the world that share some specific features but also have differences too. We learnt that all bears have 5 claws on each foot as well as a good sense of smell. Some of their differences include their habitats- we had a look at where they like to live and also their diets.
The children made bear paw cookies with the right number of claws- they were delicious! The Year 1 children also looked at the diet of each bear, learning that most of them are omnivores but that the polar bear is a carnivore and the panda is a herbivore.
Class 1's afternoon with our teddies!
On Wednesday 22nd November, we brought our teddy bears in to school. We had lots of fun playing games with them in the classroom and having a picnic with biscuits and jam tarts!
Making our own bears!
All through this half term, we have been busy sewing our own teddy bear hand puppets with Mrs Merrick. We have worked incredibly hard as sewing is very tricky! With Mrs Pratley, we designed and then decorated our bears. We were really pleased with the results! Here are some of our lovely bears:

Welcome to Class 1!
A huge welcome to all of the new children who have joined us this year and also to the children who are returning for Year 1 in Class 1.
We are starting off this academic year learning all about the seaside. We have been talking about holidays that we have been on and what we have enjoyed doing at the seaside on our holidays.
