    Summer 1

Welcome back to school after the Easter holidays! We are excited about our new half-term of learning. Our new topic is 'The Victorians' where we will be learning all about children in this time period and our very own Victorian school building. Please follow the links below to the half-term letter and topic plan:

We spent some time exploring Victorian artefacts. We tried to work out what they were used for and what the modern version would be today.

We then had a go at using some of these items. We found out that it was hard work to wash clothes in the Victorian times!

On Tuesday 28th April, members of the 'Messy Church' community came into school to work with us. We spent a lovely afternoon thinking all about treasure. We heard Bible stories, made crafts, completed activities, sang songs and enjoyed a snack together. We would like to thank the volunteers who came into school to help with this fantastic event.

On Friday 8th May we had a Victorian School day. We dressed up and brought a penny to school to enjoy a day in the life of a Victorian child from over 100 years ago. We compared our whole class photo with one from 1898 taken in exactly the same spot!

We completed lots of activities including handwriting thinking about 'hooks' and 'hangers' and telling stories using Punch and Judy.

We ended the day with learning how to sing the National Anthem to Queen Victoria and with a PE lesson in an old fashioned style!
