Autumn 2025

Autumn 2 - 2025

Welcome back after the half-term break. We have lots of exciting and wonderful learning happening in the run-up to Christmas, from creating Pneumatic toys in DT to exploring the artwork by Matisse and creating our own. We are excited to share all that we get up to this term!

The curriculum overview for Autumn 2 is available at the bottom of the page to view, download and keep you up to date on what we are learning.

For Remembrance, Class 2 looked at creating their own rhyming poetry. We explored some well-known poems and how we could create ours and make them rhyme. The children worked really hard on these and created some fantastic Remembrance poems! Along with their poems, the children created their own stained-glass windows with poppies for the occasion, which we displayed in our Library.

Class 2 had an unexpected event happen.....THE CHAIRS HAD QUIT!

A letter was left to the children explaining why they had decided to quit. This encouraged the children to write persuasive letters asking them to come back and what a great job they did! Some wonderful letters with great vocabulary for persuasion.

The children in class 2 were tasked with designing and making a pneumatic toy for a year 1 child. This was to help them understand how pneumatic systems work and can be used to create movement. The children were extremely creative with their designs and really thought about what they were creating and who they were creating it for. They all came out so magnificently unique!

In our RE topic we have been looking at – What is the 'Trinity' and why is it important for Christians? We researched how it is represented in art, poetry and how Christians celebrate the Holy Trinity. The children then created their own art depicting their ideas on the Holy Trinity and what each part represents.

Autumn 1 - 2025

Welcome to Class 2's Autumn Term page.

We are excited to welcome in the new academic year in Class 2! As we start the new school year, we welcome some new faces to the class as well as welcome back some old and familiar ones too.  We have a fantastic curriculum ahead of us this year across all subjects and look forward to sharing all the fun and success we have throughout.

Curriculum overviews for each term are available at the bottom of this page to view, download and keep you up to date on what we are learning.

Class 2 have been exploring all about the Great Fire of London and what an amazing time we have had! We looked at how the events took place, past and present London, what life was like during that period of time, and explored Historical sources about the Great Fire.

During our Science lessons, our topic for the term was Rocks including Soil.  As a class, we explored different types of rocks, properties of rocks, understanding how fossils are formed and looked into discoveries made by Mary Anning.

We also looked into soil formation and its layers. During this, we created a class compost bin, exploring the different stages that are needed and following instructions carefully. The children loved making the compost bin and overserved it over time while it became a natural fertiliser.
