Spring 2025
Spring 2
Welcome back after the half term break! We have a busy second part to the spring term coming up but we are looking forward to sharing all that we get up to.
Class 2 enjoyed celebrating World Book Day. We had an author come into school, talk to the children about writing books and do a session with each class. The children found the experience very inspiring and even began to think about writing books themselves.

Class 2 went on a litter pick around the school to encourage local people and children at school to take their litter home. We spoke about the downsides to littering in the area and ways in which we could all keep our area clean and protect the local habitats (linking nicely to our science topic - animals and their habitats).
The children really enjoyed helping to keep the area clean and give suggestions to our school eco committee.

In English, Class 2 have been inspired by our class reader 'Tell me a dragon' to create a wanted poster about a dragon that has been sighted locally. They were all so creative in coming up with their own mythical dragon and what it had been up to. The children did a fantastic job and were even able to write it up on old fashioned paper!

Spring 1
Welcome to Spring Term in Class 2!
Welcome back after the Christmas and New Year break, and to the Spring Term in Class 2. We are excited to share all our learning for this half term from exploring Italy in Geography to investigating Forces and Magnets in Science.
In DT we created our own moving monsters and a functional linkage system to make them more animated. Class 2 loved designing their own monsters and becoming really creative with their designs.
What a fantastic job they have all done!

In Maths this term we have began to look at 2-D and 3-D shapes. In one of our lessons, Class 2 had the opportunity to identify 3-D shape nets and create these 3-D shapes. The Class even were able to recognise other properties of 3-D shapes such as the number of faces, edges and vertices. Great work Class 2!

Class 2 have been exploring Forces and Magnets in Science. We investigated friction using ramps with different surfaces to see how they impacted the travelling distance of a toy car. The children made predictions about which ramp would create the most friction and why.
We performed the experiment and recorded our results. The whole class really enjoyed this investigation and even wanted to perform further tests.
