Autumn 2 2022

Welcome to autumn 2. We are looking forward to showing what we get up to this half term. You can find out what we will be learning about by clicking on our curriculum overview below.

We have been working really hard this half term. In English we have been looking at the book 'Little Red Reading Hood' where lots of traditional tales get mixed up!

We started by creating a puppet show of the story of Little Red Riding Hood. We had to use the characters to tell the story. We are learning how to work in groups and use our voices to create interest for people listening.

To help us with mixing up our stories our homework was to become the expert on a traditional tale and present it to the rest of the class. Here are some photos of us sharing our traditional tales.

We then planned and wrote our own mixed up traditional tale and they were all really impressive!

After looking at how Columbus found America we started to study Geography. We are learning about North America. We started by using an atlas to find North America and we labelled the different countries that make up the continent and also naming the seas and oceans around it. We love using atlases!

We've been working really hard in maths this half term. One of the things we are learning is our times tables. We use TT Rockstars to help us practise and get quicker at recalling them. Here we are at the start of one of our maths lessons trying to beat the clock and earn points!

In RE we've been thinking about the question 'What is the good news Christians say Jesus brings'. Part of this was an RE day where we learned about the Nativity story. We looked at lots of different pictures of the nativity story from around the world. After we created our own puppet shows, using the skills from our previous English lessons, to tell the Nativity story. We had to recall and create the characters and tell the story.

We read the different versions of the Nativity story in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. We then did a reverse Nativity thinking about everyone's role in the story. We think that the story is about Jesus and the love God has for everyone. We then created our own artwork of the Nativity.

We used what we had learned to write the school Nativity Service.
