Week 9

Monday 8th November

We had a special visitor who taught Class 3 all about World War 2 and was then invited to our collective worship at the end of the day. He told us all about people who fought and were affected in the war. We have collected money for poppies this week and learnt about where the money goes. Some of the money goes to help the veterans and families affected by war, some goes to campaigning for remembrance and some goes to helping veterans who are in hospitals or care homes.

We also remember the sacrifice the soldiers gave for our individual liberty and democracy today. It may have been very different if we had lost the second world war. We give thanks to all of the young, courageous soldiers who sacrificed their lives for our freedom today.

Tuesday 9th November

Online Safety

We watched a short video of a boy taking selfies of himself and friends and posting them on social media sites. What he didn't realise, was people could see where he lived and know that it was his birthday and where he was going to meet friends. We remembered that we always need to stay safe online never giving out any personal details including your full name, address, phone number or where you go to school with a photograph.

We also discussed how we need to show compassion and kindness to friends online and be respectful.

Thursday 11th November 2021

Daisy in Class 3 wanted each child to hold a poppy outside on the playground for our remembrance day. At 11a.m each class went outside to hold a two minute silence to remember those affected by war. Mr Debenham played 'The Last Post' on his trumpet and the sea of poppies looked beautiful.
